Take your time and get to know the people and the place and you will love it
    Stayed August 2016/Travelled with Family
First it is just a motel with a campground in a beautiful area, but if you take your time to get to know the place and the people , you will find out that there is more to it. It is not just an ordinary Resort. Check out the little Chapel and read the notes from the people who had special moments there.Walk down to the lake and enjoy the sunset while picnicking. Have breakfast at an extraordinary setting and meet Wendy and Ron , the hosts and owners of the place. Get to know the people and find new friends , it is the right place for doing so.People get married at David Thompson, that says it all.  We really enjoyed our stay there. Thanks to Ron and Wendy who shared some stories of the place with us and showed us their lodges. We felt extremely comfortable in the midst of these genuine people .

               Lovely, Lovely, Lovely

    Stayed September 2016 /travelled as a couple

The nicest people, the most caring staff, breath-taking views, crystal blue lake, amazing breakfast, fantastic restaurant and clean rooms...what more could we ask for? We loved this place . peaceful, quiet and charming. Exactly what we were looking for . The other negative reviews are by Negative Nancy's let me tell you!

    Great location to stay

    Stayed June 2016/travelled with family

We stayed in one of the cabins at David Thompson Resort for 2 days in June.Cabin was great:small bathroom and kitchen, queen size bed,hot water, BBQ,firepit, outdoor table with benches...for a very reasonable price. Staff was very nice and friendly, starting from the front desk ppl and ending with ground and housekeepers. Resort is in a very nice location, just mins away from Abraham lake and a short driving distance from Columbia Icefields . There are a few nice hiking trails nearby as well. If you are ok with a slightly longer drive , go back to Nordegg and check out Crescent falls and Canyon . I definitely recommend this resort. We will be going back there again September long weekend.

Lovely sights!” Reviewed 16 August 2016 via mobile We stayed in the motel and other family stayed in the campground. The views around this area are spectacular! Some improvements in the room since our last visit and there was a fridge, which was very nice! https://www.tripadvisor.ca/ShowUserReviews-g499617-d663777-r406307591-David_Thompson_Resort-Nordegg_Clearwater_County_Alberta.html#
An excellent place to unwind” Reviewed 14 August 2016 Love the place surrounded with beautiful view of the mountains. It is also a walking distance from Abraham Lake. Beautiful lake . . . place to soak your feet and fish if you can catch one! Most of the camp sites are drive through! It is also close to a helicopter ride place if you want one. . . or can go horseback riding. There is also a cowboy breakfast . . . with the owners socializing with campers! Or even to just relax at your campsite! Room Tip: Don't take campgrounds near the generators!
“Pleasant and Beautiful” Reviewed 13 August 2016 It seems that everyone heads out to Banff or Jasper right away and misses this area. The David Thompson Resort is a place that I pass often and had never stayed at. I eventually got the opportunity to stay in the hostel in early August and it was amazing! The staff is entertaining and fun and the room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was a highlight as the owners hang around to chat with guests and are very hospitable. The day hikes in the area are beautiful (I got the change to do Crescent Falls and White Goat Falls which were both amazing) and even the short stroll down to Abraham Lake is well worth it. I would recommend the David Thompson Resort to anyone as a getaway. If you can get past the lack of internet and cell phone reception its a very relaxing and beautiful place to be. Will definitely be coming back!

“We like it here.” Reviewed 9 August 2016 We stayed for 5 nights in early August and had a very nice stay. We have been several times before and have always loved the location. There are lots of trees and places to walk to and drive to in the area. The staff have always been helpful and friendly to us although I won't say the same for the restaurant. The stores are both good, pricey as one would expect. We had two dogs and two kids and 4 adults in two spots and everyone was happy. We played mini-golf with the kids - now that needs some serious upgrading but it is after all mini-golf so we had fun with it anyway. Love the walk to the beautiful lake - good exercise a couple of times a day with the dogs. Our motorhome was a bit large for the spot but it was our first time out with it and we are still learning. We recommend this as an excellent location for a mini-vacation. “Great place to stay ” Reviewed 1 August 2016 via mobile Ron and Wendy own and operate this terrific resort. Lots of amenities, including great camp store (with gas and diesel), restaurant and gift shop. Once we discovered the yummy Cowboy breakfast we ate that every morning! Roomy pull through sites and positioned so that you have some privacy. Nice hikes from the campground to a beautiful viewpoint and down to Abraham Lake. Helicopter rides and trail rides within 1/4 mile. Helicopter rides take you over mountains and glaciers! We stayed 6 nights and used this as base camp to go down to Banff for a day, then up to Jasper and the Icefields another day.       A wonderful place” Reviewed 8 July 2016 via mobile I have just returned from a family holiday at this Resort. We stayed in the Motel and new serviced Cabin, what a treat. The Motel provided a comfy place to stay and the Cabin, Wendy's Window is great. It is fully serviced and a lovely space, we all enjoyed it and made the most of the deck and fire pit. Each morning we ate at the excellent breakfast BBQ cooked and served by the Resort owners, they truly gave a very personal and welcoming touch to our stay. My son loved the play grounds there and it meant we could enjoy breakfast whilst he played. The restaurant served good food in a relaxed environment with friendly attentive staff. It's a great mountain stay and considering its remote location for utilities does an excellent job. “Fantastic Resort & Campground!” Reviewed 13 June 2016 Had the pleasure of staying at the fantastic Resort & Campground. We booked one of the cabins and were very pleased. The ground are very clean, you can stay in a rustic cabin, in the hotel or camp out in the campground!! We chose a rustic cabin and it was amazing; very clean, propane heat & lights, our own firepit, picnic table and outhouse! The view from our deck was spectacular and probably one of the best sleeps that I've ever had. Although there is no running water, there is a shower facility on site along with a restaurant and convenience store as well. Terrific play area for kids with a mini put course! Thank you DTL we will be back and can't wait! Room Tip: Depends what you want, camping or cabin, both are amazing!
